Multiple people have been shot in what's believed to have been a bank robbery gone wrong as cops were reportedly 'dragged behind a police van'.
Police asked the public to avoid the 3600-block of Shelbourne Street in Saanich, Canada, after a reported shooting around 11.30am this morning.
According to police, two suspects are in custody and, whilst searching for a possible third suspect, cops have urged people to stay in their homes.
Eyewitness Brenda Boyd told CTV News she heard at least 25 gunshots and claimed to see at least three people being carried away onto stretchers into nearby ambulances.
One police officer was reportedly hiding behind bushes and yelling at people to leave the area immediately.
Fabien Cousineau, an eyewitness on the scene, was in a local bike shop when he saw "two policemen get shot" and a man lying down in a car park.
He said: "It was just terrible. They were dragging policemen behind a police van."
Emergency services were called to the scene and traffic was being diverted from the area.
In a statement on Twitter, Saanich police wrote: "Officers responded to a report of armed suspects at a bank in the 3600-blk of Shelbourne St.
"There was an exchange of gunfire. Multiple people have been injured. Please continue to avoid the area.
"If you are in the area of North Dairy Rd to Cedar Hill X Road & Richmond Rd to Cedar Hill Rd - please shelter in place. Two suspects are in custody.
"Officers are searching the area for a possible additional suspect. Please stay in your homes.
"The shelter-in-place advisory remains in effect as we continue our search for a possible third suspect.
"As we continue our search of the area, we please ask that the public not share the location of our officers or their activities."
