Multiple collisions and low hanging wires cause early morning traffic chaos across north Dublin

There were multiple incidents across north Dublin this morning that caused traffic chaos.

Just before 7am this morning, a collision on the Oscar Traynor Road in Coolock led to heavy delays that quickly went as far back as the Port Tunnel and M1/M50.

The road was closed for a number of hours as emergency services worked to clear the road and get traffic moving again.

There was a serious knock-on effect across Dublin with heavy traffic queues on the busiest northside routes continuing until just before 11am.

Soon after the collision, the Swords Road also closed in Santry due to low hanging wires with delays surrounding the Omni shopping centre.

As a result of the road closures, public transport was also affected with Dublin Bus and Go Ahead reporting a number of delays on local routes.

Services impacted included routes 16, 27B, 33, 41 and 41C.

Just before 9.30am this morning there was then a collision on the Malahide Road near May Park with delays building as far back as the Artane roundabout.
