Multiple bags of 'drugs' cash and a car seized by police

Multiple bags of what is thought to be drugs, cash and a car were seized Greater Manchester Police Traffic officers last night.

The occupants of the Fiesta made off from the vehicle on catching sight of Special Response Team patrols, which then swung into action. They later tweeted: "In total over £500 in cash and drugs with a street value of £500+ were located."

They added: "Car seized for forensics and enquiries ongoing." The police action was part of Operation Vortex, in which officers from Greater Manchester Police's Specialist Operations Branch are deployed to proactively target drivers and vehicles to make the region's roads safer for all who use them.

The officers also seized Vauxhall Astra with cloned plates in Duckinfield. Get the latest local news from Manchester. Find out what's going on in and around the city with breaking news and more from the Manchester Evening News team.
