Multi-vehicle crash on A77 leaves M77 closed 'for some time'

A crash involving multiple vehicles has led to the A77 and M77 in Ayrshire being closed this morning.

The road heading southbound was heavily restricted due to an accident.

A Traffic Scotland update said: "The A77 near Kilmarnock at Grassyards is currently restricted in both directions due to a road traffic accident. Motorists are advised to approach with caution."

And they have since posted on their Twitter feed: "M77 is closed due to a  serious road traffic collision (RTC) at Grassyards. The road is likely to remain closed for some time."
