Muireann O'Connell makes unforgivable mistake before leaving for Dublin Airport

The feeling you've forgotten something vitally important usually sets in once you hit the road for the airport.

That nagging feeling you've left your passport or boarding pass at home tends to kick in once you're on the bus or in the car and know you've no chance of getting back in time to retrieve them and make your flight.

TV star Muireann O'Connell must have had that feeling as she walked through the doors of  Dublin Airport  on Friday morning, Dublin Live reports.

The Six O'Clock Show host arrived at the airport only to realise she'd forgotten something vitally important - her suitcase.

The former Today FM DJ shared details of her embarrassing gaffe on  Twitter  before boarding her flight.

She said: "Arrived to the airport. Did a check to see what I’d forgotten; my suitcase.

"My entire suitcase. That’s what I’ve forgotten."

Muireann's followers couldn't help but laugh at the hilarious mix up and Dublin Airport also weighed in, saying: "Luggage smuggage. We promise we’re not judging. At least you got here and had the documents to travel. Safe trip."

But on the plus side, one woman did point out it was a "proper excuse to shop" while on her travels.
