It's roasting right now, and naturally all that anyone wants to do is launch themselves into a body of water - but not if it's covered in algae!
Park bosses at Mugdock Country Park have released a temporary warning notice to dog walkers and park-goers about huge blooms of blue-green algae found in the park's bodies of water.
The blooms are also known as cyanobacteria and are highly poisonous, tending to form more in warmer weather.
They are advising everyone to stay out of the water in the park for their own safety, as if you ingest any of the algae it can cause serious health effects.
Dog owners should keep their pets on a lead and not allow them to swim in the water, as if left untreated, the toxins can cause liver damage.
The warning reads: "High concentration of blue-green algae have been found in this water.
"Swallowing the water or algal scum or shoreline mats can cause stomach upsets or serious health effects.
"Contact with the water or with algal scum can cause skin problems.
"It is a sensible precaution for you, your children and your animals to avoid contact with the scum, algal mats and the water close by."
Chief superintendent Mike Flynn of the Scottish SPCA has said previously of algae-blooms: “Any dog owners concerned that their dog has come into contact with blue-green algae should consult their vet immediately.
“If you find algae, this should be reported to the local authority’s environmental services.”
