Two male mudskippers intimidate each other by opening their mouths wide and raising their dorsal fins on a tidal flat -- located in Yanagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture -- that faces the Ariake Sea. It is currently the "season of love" for the fish, which is typically 15 centimeters long. When male mudskippers meet by a burrow that has been built to attract a female, the males try to intimidate each other. This ritual can be seen until July.
