Mud-covered man helped ashore in major emergency operation

A man covered head to toe in mud on Weston-super-Mare's beach prompted a huge emergency response on Sunday (July 12).

Fire crews, paramedics, the coastguard as well as a hovercraft, were all deployed to the section of the beach located near the Grand Pier.

Pictures show a man wearing a white vest lying on the ground plastered in mud.

According to Somerset Live, the fire service say multiple people were seen in the mud on the beach, and 20 members of the public were checked over by emergency services staff on Sunday.
