Much-loved retro chocolate bar is back on the shelves after 30 years

A chocolate bar that’s sure to spark feelings of nostalgia has made a comeback for a limited time only.

There’s no getting away from the fact that we’re a nation of chocolate lovers and that includes dreaming about those sweet treats we can no longer get our hands on.

In fact, there was such outrage when people finally realised the Wispa had been discontinued, that the chocolate bar made its way back to the shelves, permanently.

Now it’s time for another classic name to return - but only for three months.

Mars Wrigley has announced that the popular Marathon bar is back on the shelves, to spark off those warm feelings of nostalgia, reports MEN.

The nutty caramel treats were renamed Snickers in 1990 but fans can now enjoy the throwback bars once more after they went on sale at Morrisons and McColl’s stores this week. It’s not the first time Marathon bars have made a comeback - last year delighted shoppers bought more than four million packs of the bars in just three months, with Morrisons eventually rationing how many customers could buy each time.

This time round, they’re available again as a single bar for the first time in 30 years, but it sounds like you will need to be quick to snap one up if last year's sales are anything to go by.

David Manzini, General Manager at Mars Wrigley UK said: "At Mars Wrigley we’re all about creating better moments through our sweet treats. It’s clear that after nearly 30 years away, people loved the return of the Marathon bar last year.

"When the British public speaks, we always aim to deliver! It’s great that after making chocolate in the UK for nearly 90 years people still love our chocolate!"
