Much loved restaurant asks 'what kind of person does that' after booking no show

A restaurant has asked 'what kind of person does that?' after a customer failed to show for a booking.

Salt House Tapas

took to Twitter to shame the customer after they were left with empty tables on Friday night (December 4).

The Hanover Street restaurant posted on social media: "What kind of person books a table after yet another lockdown knowing hospitality is on its a*** and then doesn’t bother to turn up or cancel??

"I’d tell you kind of person we think they are but I won’t use that word!!"

Following the post a number of people got in touch with the restaurant with many slamming the 'selfish' customers.

One wrote: "That's awful and selfish depriving someone else of the pleasure."

Meanwhile another said: "Totally unacceptable and just so selfish and mean.

"You guys really should be charging deposits, enough per person that they wouldn’t want to lose it. We don’t want to lose you."

And a third wrote: "I’m so sorry for you. Dreadful people!!"

Lots of other commented how the restaurant should start taking deposits to avoid people failing to turn up for bookings.

One customer wrote: "Please take a chunky deposit off all bookings. We want to be able to tapas in town for years to come."

The Tapas Kitchen also reached out to the restaurant with some advice: "Our online booking system takes card details now.

"Don’t turn up and we charge £10 per person. Not had one no show since lockdown."

Restaurants, non-essential stores, salons and more hospitality businesses were able to open on December 2 after lockdown was lifted and Liverpool City Region was placed in now in Tier 2.

However tight restrictions remain in place, including a curfew which was increased from 10pm to 11pm.

The Tier levels are due to be reviewed on December 16.
