The longtime owner of a long-standing joke shop in Glasgow's city centre has passed away.
Roy Walton was the well-loved proprietor of Tam Shepherds Trick Shop on Queen Street.
The 87-year-old was born in London before moving up to Glasgow and taking over the running of the joke shop.
A world-renowned card magic expert, he was known for creating hundreds of effects and tricks with cards and acted as a mentor for a number of magicians.
The Queen Street shop was first established in 1886 by Tam Shepherd and has been run by the Walton family, including Roy's wife Jean and daughters Sarah and Julia, for more than 75 years.
It will continue to be run by the family, with reassurances made that it will not close following Roy's death.
Tributes have been made to Roy on social media, including by his mentor and top Glasgow comedian Jerry Sadowitz who took to Twitter to express his sadness at his death.
He said: "Very upset to hear that my friend and hero Roy Walton has died. The greatest card magician and the most exemplary human being I ever knew. Real giants move quietly among us and this one managed Tam Shepherd's Joke Shop in Glasgow for fifty years. Devastated."
Performer and stage mentalist Colin Cloud also paid tribute to Roy on Twitter, saying: "A wonderful man called Roy Walton passed away today in Glasgow. He was incredibly humble & talented. He created some of the greatest magic you’ll have seen performed on TV all over the world. He spent hours telling me about historic mentalists. He’ll be missed but remembered."
