'Much-loved' dad was shot dead - now a murder suspect has been arrested at Manchester Airport

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder at Manchester Airport.

The 24-year-old suspect is currently being question by detectives investigating the death of Remal Hunt in Birmingham.

The suspect was arrested after arriving at the airport late on Monday evening.

He has now been transferred to the West Midlands.

Mr Hunt was shot in Erdington, a suburb of Birmingham, on April 18, BirminghamLive reports.

According to detectives, Mr Hunt - described as a 'much-loved son, brother and father' - was directly targeted in a shooting.

The incident took place on Church Road in broad daylight.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after the victim was shot in the chest.

He died a short time later.

Speaking previously, Det Insp Caroline Corfield, from the force’s homicide team , said: "This is a desperately sad time for Remal’s family, and we have specially trained officers in place to support them.

"We believe Remal was directly targeted.

"Remal’s family are distraught at his loss and we are determined to seek justice for them."

Late on Monday evening (April 29), detectives arrested a suspect on arrival at Manchester Airport.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Remal Hunt, who was shot dead on April 18 in Church Road, Erdington.

"Remal, 28, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest and despite the best efforts of emergency services, died a short time later.

"The suspect was arrested at Manchester airport last night, Monday (29 April), and has been brought to the West Midlands for questioning by detectives."
