Much-loved dad-of-two who was 'adored by his children' killed in crash with truck


A dad who was "adored" by his children was killed in an HGV crash.

Parademics, police and fire crews were all called to the scene of the tragedy but were unable to save the driver of the car in the tragedy.

Emergency services have now confirmed the identity of the man killed as father-of-two Billy McCreadie, 41, of Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, Chronicle Live reports.

The serious crash between a car and an HGV happened last Wednesday and forced the closure of the A69 between Brampton and Greenhead from 8.45am.

In addition to police and fire services, an ambulance helicopter was called to the scene and landed on the carriageway to provide emergency help.

Police are now attempting to understand how the collision came about, having launched an investigation immediately after the crash, and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Chronicle Live say that a statement was issued from his family through Northumbria Police on Thursday.

It said: “Billy was a much-loved father who was absolutely adored by his children.”

Inspector Dean Hood, of Northumbria Police, said: “Any death on our roads is an absolute tragedy and our thoughts go out to Billy's family and friends at this devastating time.

“We are committed to finding out what happened immediately before this collision, and a number of potential witnesses have already been in touch following our public appeal for information.

“I would like to thank those who have come forward, and would ask anybody else who witnessed this collision or believe they may have information that can assist our investigation to do the right thing and pick up the phone.”
