Muang Thong end Jakson's contract, to sign a defender

Brazilian striker Jakson Coelho.

Thai League 1 giants SCG Muang Thong United have terminated their contract with Brazilian striker Jakson 'Jaja' Coelho, the club announced yesterday.

Muang Thong general manager Karn Jantarat said both parties decided to part company on mutual consent.

Karn said: "We had a talk and agreed to terminate the contract. We wish Jaja good luck for his future. Now we can have another foreign player and we are in talks with a defender."

Jakson joined Muang Thong from Buriram United last year on a two-year contract, and scored 14 goals for the Kirins in all competitions last term.

Meanwhile, former Thailand defender Nattaporn Phanrit, 37, has officially announced his retirement.

Nattaporn said in a Facebook post that he had decided to hang up his boots after a 18-year stint with several clubs.

He began his career at Tobacco FC and won the Thai league title in 2005.

After his short spell at Tobacco FC, he played for PEA, Chonburi, Muang Thong and Navy.

He played for the Thai U17 national team and later won two SEA Games gold medals with the U23 side in 2003 and 2005.

Nattaporn last played for the Thai senior team in 2013.

He now works at Muang Thong's academy and is a TV commentator.
