MTV VMAs: BTS fans on Twitter are not pleased with K-pop group’s lack of nominations

The recently unveiled MTV Video Music Award nominations read like a who’s who of Generation Gen Z artists, including Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X.

Unsurprisingly, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers and 21 Savage also top the list, with Grande and Swift receiving a whopping ten nominations each.

But BTS, the most famous K-pop group in the world, only received nominations in four categories... and their devoted Army of fans is displeased, particularly because they weren’t nominated in the top three categories: Video, Artist and Song of the Year.

Fans instantly took to Twitter to voice their displeasure with the news.

Some thought the lack of VMA nominations didn't mean much if a Grammy was in their future.

‘Boy With Luv,’ their duet with Halsey, received a nod for Best Collaboration.

They’re also up for the brand new Best K-pop category, facing off against BLACKPINK, NCT 127, EXO and Monsta X. The other two nominations were for art direction and choreography. (They deserve the choreo win based on their ‘Boy With Luv’ moves alone.)

Some accused MTV of racism based on the new category.

Since fans vote for their favorites, it’s more than likely BTS will be taking home all four moon men - and maybe next year they’ll take home ten like Grande. They might even collaborate with Grande before then, as the pop star has been hinting at a collab on social media.
