NEW YORK — The moonmen are returning to the Garden State.
The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, will once again host MTV’s Video Music Awards, after it was held for two years at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, MTV announced Thursday. The ceremony that awards winners moonmen statues is set for Aug. 28
“Our 2019 show in Newark was undoubtedly one of our biggest and most successful shows yet and we’re excited to bring back the incredible fan energy for one of music’s most anticipated and iconic nights,” said Bruce Gillmer, president of music at Paramount, MTV’s parent company, said in a statement.
The last time the event was hosted at the Prudential Center, comic Sebastian Maniscalco hosted. The performances included Megan Thee Stallion, Taylor Swift, Lizzo, H.E.R. and Missy Elliott, who won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Swift, Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish all tied for the most awards that night — each took home three moonmen. Swift and Grande were tied for the most nominations with 12.
