MSU WR Jayden Reed forced to sit out one year due to NCAA transfer rules

It was an exciting day when Michigan State announced that breakout Western Michigan University wideout Jayden Reed would be transferring to the Spartans football team. Today, however, was a more somber day as it was confirmed by Jayden himself on his Instagram that he would have to adhere to the NCAA’s strict transfer policies and sit out a year for the Spartans.

The Freshman All-American will be a huge boost to the Spartans when he joins the team after this season. He led the Broncos in receiving last year with 56 catches for 797 yards to go along with eight touchdowns. He also notched one punt return for a touchdown last year and can return kicks as well.

There was an outside chance that Reed could’ve found his way to the team early this year as the NCAA has allowed some players to transfer in the past, but it’s still highly unclear what the NCAA sees as a viable reason to waive the one-year transfer policy.
