MSU Women’s Soccer steals non-conference road game against Boston University

MSU Women’s Soccer beat the Boston University Terriers 2-1 at Nickerson Field. Spartans had the advantage in shots on goal, 8 to 6 respectively halfway through. However, Boston University’s Taylor Kofton scored on a deflection two minutes into the second half. Michigan State rallied around redshirt freshman GK Lauren Kozal who made clutch save after clutch save.

Spartan freshman Paige Webber scored the equalizer at the 86 minute mark with a header. At the end of 90 minutes, the tilt was even. Ten minutes of overtime could not decide this game either. Sophomore Gia Wahlberg scored the game-winning goal and her fifth goal of the season in double-overtime.

Danielle Stephan was credited with assists on both goals. The Spartans move to 4-0 on the season. Their next game is on Thursday, Sept. 5 against Butler University at 7 P.M. Check out the MSU Women’s Soccer twitter handle for streaming information.
