Michigan week is here. The Spartans travel to Michigan Stadium this Saturday (Noon, FOX) to play against the No. 14 Wolverines. As always, there is so much riding on this game. Most importantly, Michigan State football fans’ pride. Michigan comes into this game on a hot streak. The Spartans need to execute perfectly to win.
Here are the five most important players for MSU in this game:

Brian Lewerke
I know, I know, this is not what you want to hear but it is definitely the truth. MSU QB Brian Lewerke went from polarizing to mostly-hated relatively quickly the past few weeks. If he costs the Spartans a victory against Michigan, fan sentiment will grow stronger. Let’s hope he can be responsible with the ball, at the very least.

Elijah Collins
Spartan running back Elijah Collins looked great last week against Illinois. He found the endzone twice and tallied up 170 total yards on just 28 carries. When Collins plays well, MSU’s chances for victory are rather favorable. He probably needs to break 100 yards for the Spartans to win. With that, the offensive line must create good gaps for Collins.
Noah Harvey
As you know, MSU linebacker Joe Bachie is suspended for the rest of the season after failing a performance enhancing drug test. As a result, sophomore Noah Harvey played heavy minutes against Illinois this past Saturday and he certainly did not disappoint. Harvey was all over the field and lead MSU with 9 total tackles and rolled up 2.5 sacks. Without Bachie MSU is missing an important locker room leader and a strong presence on the field. Harvey has to fill at least one of these roles for the Spartans to beat Michigan.

Kenny Willekes
Senior defensive end Kenny Willekes looked great against Illinois. He ended the game with six total tackles and 1.5 sacks. Willekes is one of the guys that needs to step up in the absence of Bachie. He must make some huge plays this weekend against the Wolverines.
Cody White
Wide receiver Cody White stepped up for the Spartans against Illinois. White totaled seven receptions for 128 yards. His athletism and crafty catching skills were on full display. White has been streaky this year (to be kind) and MSU needs him to perform well for a victory this weekend.
