MSU Softball to participate in Big Ten/ACC Softball Challenge

It was announced today that Michigan State’s Softball team will be joining the Big Ten/ACC challenge along with Maryland. Both teams will be traveling to South Carolina to play the host Clemson Tigers along with Pitt.

This is the fifth iteration of the event and will be held between February 14th-16th, 2020. The event has also been expanded to host 10 teams from each conference with each team playing four games each between five campus sites.

Michigan State participated in the event last year as well, squaring off against Georgia Tech and Boston College in Atlanta, home of Georgia Tech.

In the four years that this event has been held thus far, the conferences have split the event. The Big Ten won in 2016 and 2019. The official name is now the Big Ten/ACC Softball Challenge. Exact schedules and television schedules will be revealed at a later date.

Michigan State Softball is looking to bounce back from a tough year in which they went 4-18 in conference play and 16-34 overall.
