Five weeks into the season, Michigan State’s quarterback Brian Lewerke is leading the Big Ten in passing yards with 1,325 yards on the year so far. Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is leading in passing touchdowns with 16. The two quarterbacks will meet this Saturday in Columbus when MSU faces a huge test in the Buckeyes.
One important caveat in what is a fun stat five weeks into the season: Penn State QB Sean Clifford is second in passing yards in the conference and has only played four games, so I guess we shouldn’t get too carried away here, but I still think it’s worth noting since Lewerke is one of the most slandered quarterbacks in the country but he’s having a fairly strong season.
