In what should be considered a surprise to no one, Michigan State’s star point guard Cassius Winston has been named as one of the twenty point guards on the Bob Cousy Award Watch List, given to NCAA Men’s Basketball’s top point guard of the season. The Award is selected by a national committee of top college basketball personnel and presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
“Since 2004, the Hall of Fame has had the honor of bestowing the Bob Cousy Award on the best point guards in the collegiate game, forming an amazing list of award winners who have gone on to have tremendous success at the professional level,” said President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame John L. Doleva.
Recent award-winners include Ja Morant of Murray State (2019), Jalen Brunson of Villanova (2018), Frank Mason III of Kansas (2017), Tyler Ulis of Kentucky (2016), and Delon Wright of Utah (2015). Winston could (and probably should, if the season goes as anticipated) be the first Spartan to win the award since it’s inception.
