Michigan State Men’s Basketball released their official 2019-20 roster today and there were not too many surprises, but there was one: Tom Izzo’s son, 5’8″ 150 pound Steven Izzo is joining the team, and a program spokesperson confirmed the news with MLive’s Kyle Austin today. Steven will wear number 13 for the team.
Steven Izzo also contemplated joining the team as a manager but opted to join the roster instead. He is not expected to see any real playing time. Izzo has talked in the past about how he regrets how his job keeps him away from his family so this is a cool way for him to spend more time with his son.
The only other interesting thing to note on the roster is that Marcus Bingham Jr. has gained 10 pounds while Joshua Langford has lost 10. This is 100% muscle-related on both sides. Bingham has been trying to add muscle since arriving to school and Langford, coming off an injury, has probably lost some muscle mass during the recovery process.
