MSU Men’s and Women’s Swimming Programs honored for Scholarship Achievements

The CSCAA (College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association) announced their Scholar All-America teams for the 2019 Spring Semester this week, and the Michigan State Men’s program took the top spot in the country with a 3.72 cumulative GPA. The Women’s program was the top-ranked team in the Big Ten, 16th nationally, with 3.65.

“I am proud of the team and this is a testament to their work ethic,” said swimming coach Matt Gianiodis. “I am really happy for Jeremy Flynn who mentors our team from recruiting to orientation to matriculation to graduation and beyond. This is what being a Spartan student-athlete is all about and I think the entire university can be proud of that.”

Two Spartans were also recognized individually last week, as Scott Piper and Courtney Aycock were each named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American First and Second Team, respectively.

In addition, Scott Piper, Payton Woods, and Erin Szara will all be heading to the 2020 Olympic Trials after making the cut.
