May has been a month full of #1 rankings for the Michigan State Basketball program.
After being ranked first in pretty much everyone’s way-too-early top 25s, MSU is holding down those spots in the early post-NBA draft deadline polls that are trickling in.
CBS Sports analyst Jon Rothstein (THIS IS MARCH) has MSU slotted at the top spot in his preseason rankings.
Also, Big Ten Network contributor and NCAA Correspondent Andy Katz has MSU #1 on his power 36 list.
Of the Spartans Katz writes, “The Spartans have the preseason Big Ten Player of the year in Cassius Winston back at the point. The depth is in place at every position. Watch Xavier Tillman and Aaron Henry become stars this season.”
Well said.
The more these types of rankings come in the more we will see MSU taking the top spot. Expectations are rightfully high in East Lansing for next season. Let’s hope it goes better than the last time MSU had this much preseason hype in 2017 when they lost to Syracuse in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament.
