MSU guard Tyson Walker ranked as one of top transfers in college basketball

Michigan State basketball’s newest roster addition is considered one of the biggest gets via the transfer portal this offseason.

Tyson Walker — a guard who transferred to Michigan State from Northeastern last month — was ranked as one of the top 40 committed transfers by David Cobb of CBS Sports. Cobb lists Walker as the No. 18 committed transfer in his rankings.

Here’s what Cobb had to say about Walker:

“The CAA Defensive Player of the Year was an offensive star for Northeastern as well. His two-way game and distributing ability ought to make him a starter for the Spartans next season.”

Walker averaged 18.8 points and 4.8 assists per game last season with Northeastern, and was a first team CAA selection. As Cobb noted above, Walker was also named CAA Defensive Player of the Year, indicating he can provide a big boost for the Spartans on both ends of the floor.

In my opinion, I would have Walker higher up on this list because of his two way ability and the fact that he fills a huge hole for the Spartans. However, he could be lower on this ranking then I’d expect since he is coming from a mid major program and will need to prove himself in the Big Ten.
