MSU Grad Transfer Target Kerry Blackshear Jr. not attending NBA Draft Combine

The list of every player who will be attending the NBA Draft combine next week in Chicago was released today, and there were some interesting tidbits on there for Spartan fans. We already wrote about Nick Ward’s exclusion from the event earlier today, but there was another piece relevant for Michigan State hoops fans. MSU has reportedly targeted Kerry Blackshear Jr. as a grad transfer prospect to fill their final scholarship vacancy, and he will not be attending the Draft combine either.

This is good news for Spartan fans as the NBA was one of the parties who Michigan State was competing with for Blackshear’s commitment. There are many options available for Blackshear, which include staying at Virginia Tech for one more season, transferring to a contender, or going to the pros. If he is not invited to the Draft combine, this helps Michigan State’s chances at landing the power forward, although they will still need to compete with a slew of teams vying for his affection, including Kentucky, Texas A&M, and more.
