MSU Football Long Snapper Ryan Armour suffers season ending leg injury

At his weekly press conference, Mark Dantonio revealed that MSU long snapper Ryan Armour is out for the season with a leg injury that will require surgery. Armour suffered his injury during the Spartans’ victory over Tulsa on Friday. Now, true freshman Jude Pedrozo must step up to the plate. But do not fret, Coach Dantonio is a big believer in Pedrozo.

“He went in and snapped very well. He’s done very well in practice,” Dantonio said according to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press. “I have no concerns in terms of how he’s going to do. I think he’ll be outstanding.”

Fans often overlook the importance of a long snapper, but, reliable long snappers are crucial for a successful special teams unit. Kicker Matt Coghlin tallied four field goals and two extra points with the help of Armour against Tulsa.

MSU Football is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 7 against Western Michigan.
