MSU DT Raequan Williams named to Outland Award Watch List

Michigan State’s Raequan Williams is set to be a major star for the Spartans this year on defense and he was recently named to the 2019 Outland Award Watch List to reflect that hype. The Chicago native is one of 83 players on the watch list for the award, which is given annually to the best interior defensive lineman in the league as voted on by the Football Writers Association of America.

This is Williams’ only preseason award watch list as of right now. Williams was named First-Team All-Big Ten by the Associated Press last year. He has started 29 straight games for the Spartans which is tied of the longest streak on the team. Michigan State was ranked first in rushing defense last year and second in 2017, largely due to the stellar play of Williams.

Raequan Williams currently ranks second among active Michigan State players in tackles for loss with 21.5 to go along with 6.5 career sacks.
