MSU defense set new rushing yards allowed record last night

Okay, I understand if some of you were upset with the offense yesterday. It wasn’t exactly an encouraging day on that side of the football, but you can’t deny that the defense was sensational. Hell, it might have been the best 4 quarters of defensive dominance we have seen in the modern era of college football. Am I being hyperbolic? I’m really not sure. Michigan State set a new school (defensive) rushing record yesterday by holding Tulsa to -73 rushing yards.

This was also the least rushing yards accrued in a college football game since 2000. I am sure Tulsa RB Corey Taylor II’s comments that 200 yards rushing against Michigan State was a ‘reasonable’ goal did play some part of this dominant performance.

Michigan State held Tulsa to 80 total yards and forced three turnovers on the day, including a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Yeah, it was sweet.
