MSU Athletic Trainer charged with attempted sexual assault and domestic violence

According to a story released by the Lansing State Journal yesterday, a Michigan State football athletic trainer, David Jager, was recently accused of sexual assault, domestic violence, and lying to a cop. An MSU spokeswoman, Emily Guerrant, said on Thursday that Jager is still employed by MSU but has been on paid leave since 2018.

Jager was accused of assaulting his girlfriend at Spartan Stadium in August of 2015. According to East Lansing District Court records, he also lied about the incident to police. Jager is also charged with trying to sexually assault a different individual in Lansing in 2016. This would be a felony charge and up to a decade in prison.

Jager is also one of the 11 people named who failed to report their knowledge of Larry Nassar’s abuse. Jager’s girlfriend in 2015 apparently informed him that Nassar groped her and Jager kept it quiet.

Jager will head back to court in late August.

Candidly, this is just another in a long line of horrifying incidents related to my alma mater and I am eager to see if the new President can put an end to the culture of indifference and disgusting acts that have plagued my beloved university for so long.
