PUNE: The strike-hit Pune division of MSRTC on Tuesday resumed bus services on four inter-state routes after over four months, following an increase in the number of drivers and conductors.
An official with the Pune division of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) said buses had started plying to Bidar, Gulbarga, Bijapur and Ganagapura in Karnataka. “After the second wave of the pandemic, we had started buses to these destinations in Karnataka. But the employees’ strike forced us to stop plying the buses in late October. We decided to restart the services on these inter-state routes after around 125 drivers and conductors belonging to MSRTC joined back to work in the past week,” he said.
Justifying the resumptions of services on the inter-state routes while just 70 of around 180 local routes were operational from Pune, another official said, “It is a signal to the employees on strike that MSRTC is getting back on its feet and they should start working now.”
