MS Dhoni

Chennai : Five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) announced star opener Ruturaj Gikwad as the side's new skipper of the team on Thursday ahead of the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

The decision marks the end of Dhoni's long reign at the helm of the CSK, during which he led them to five IPL titles.
"MS Dhoni handed over Chennai Super Kings' captaincy to batter Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Ruturaj has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in IPL during this period," CSK informed through an official statement on Thursday.

He led the CSK in 212 IPL matches, winning 128 matches and losing 82. Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, after leading the team to glory in the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
