Mrs Hinch shows just how much dirt is hiding in your hair brush - and it's so gross

We regularly clean our make-up brushes to ensure we don't put grime on our faces when we use them, but how often do you clean your hair brush?

In truth, probably not often enough, but you should think about giving it a go at least once a month as it turns out there's some pretty nasty stuff lurking on them.

Cleaning guru Mrs Hinch has shared her method for removing dirt from her brushes, showing off the process each step of the way - and the results are positively shocking.

She started by removing all the hair and then goes over the brush with a comb, to make sure it's all out.

The next step is to run some hot (but not boiling) water in the sink and then put your brush or brushes into the water to soak.

Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchcliffe, then adds one tablespoon of washing up liquid and one tablespoon of white vinegar to the water.

The mum-of-one says the vinegar helps to remove bacteria and germs.

Allow the brushes to sit in the water mixture for at least an hour.

During this time, you might notice the colour of the water changing, as any dirt comes off the brush.

Mrs Hinch adds that the build up of products from your brushes may also float to the top of the water.

EW.

We never knew hair brushes could get so gross!
