Mrs Hinch shares 30p food hack to rid your kettle of limescale in seconds

January is the month of the new year's resolutions, and as part of them, many people will be looking to keep on top of cleaning a little bit more. Cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, also known as Sophie Hinchcliffe, has captured the internet's imagination when it comes to her nifty hacks, and it turns out 2023 will be no different as she's posted a handy video showing the fabulous ways you can work smarter and not harder when cleaning this year.

One of the five hacks she showed her followers detailed how to get rid of limescale from a kettle with barely any effort.

The caption of the video read: "Anything that saves time or money around the home is a 'hack' to me", followed by a crying with laughter face. "So I just thought I would share a few of my most recent faves."

One of the hacks showed Mrs Hinch cutting up a lemon, popping it in the kettle and putting water on top then boiling it. This handy hack, which costs just 30p due to the price of the lemon, gets rid of limescale from the kettle easily.

Better Homes and Gardens suggest slicing one whole lemon into thin rounds, then putting them in the kettle, filling the kettle up with cold water, boiling it, leaving it for half an hour, boiling again, then rinsing it out with clean cold water.

Other tips on the video included removing the dust from her washing machine filter and burning the residue on a fire, then she utilises her bed frame to hang up a rug in order to dry it, rather than using heating.

Sophie also flaunted her collapsible washing basket, storing it above her washing machine to keep it out of the way, rather than having it on show all the time.

She also took pads that are used to prevent furniture feet from ruining carpets and rugs, covered it in Zoflora, and stuck it in the bin to avoid that dreaded smell.

In the comments, people praised the hacks, saying it had motivated them to be better at cleaning this year, and some even shared their own handy tips.

One wrote: "When cleaning your hoover filter, instead of just plain water, soak it mixed with Zoflora of your choice. It makes your house smell amazing each and every time you hoover through. It lasts forever too."

Someone else suggested: "I collect my tumble dryer fluff and store it till birds are nesting then put it in a metal bird feeding for them to add to their nests."

Another joked: "Cleaning hack...after a good deep clean, don't let your husband or children back in the house."

Have you tried any of these hacks? Let us know in the comments.
