Mrs Hinch fans swear by simple washing trick to stop creases and lines in dark jeans

They may be a staple in our wardrobes, but jeans can be quite unforgiving at times - both in how uncomfortable they are and how tough denim is to wash.

It's one thing worrying about whether they'll shrink on a high heat, or dreading the colour running into your other clothes, but have you ever been stuck with those annoying crease lines that simply won't budge after a wash?

One way to solve this pesky issue is sticking them in the dryer to iron out the creases, but as the appliance guzzles energy and we're all keeping a stern eye on our household bills, that's simply not an option for many.

Thankfully, one savvy cleaning fan has found a solution to the denim disaster, and it won't cost you a penny.

Cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch has inspired a cohort of loyal fans thanks to her clever tips and product recommendations, and many of them share their own advice on a dedicated Facebook group for her followers.

One woman took to the group to share her jean conundrum, as she wrote: "I love my black jeans but I hate that after a few washes they go more of a grey I seem to get lines on them. Any tips?"

Her request was flooded with responses from cleaning obsessives keen to help, with the most common response being a simple trick that takes seconds to do before putting your wash on.

The hack is turning dark jeans inside out before you wash them, as one Mrs Hinch fan advised: "Wash inside-out and hand wash, drip dry and no conditioner."

Another cleaning lover explained: "Cooler wash and inside out zero to 40C is hot enough for anything."

Meanwhile, others pointed out the importance of not overloading your washing machine as this can cause extra unwanted creasing.

One Facebook user wrote: "Turn inside out and wash with similar colours in cold water and minimal soap. Don't overload."

While another recommended: "Machine wash at 30C/40C in DAZ washing powder. Line dry outdoors if you can. Hope this helps."

This savvy washing hack isn't the only advice that Mrs Hinch fans have been dishing out, as others recently advised how to remove pesky blood stains from bedsheets.

Another hack that shouldn't cost a thing, the item cleaning fans rave about is actually something we keep in our kitchens and use regularly in our cooking - salt.

In response to someone asking for advice, one cleaning fan wrote: "Put your bedding in cold water and sprinkle salt on the stain work the salt into a paste on the stain and leave for a while then wash in a cool wash, hot water 'sets' stains."
