Mrs Hinch fans swear by 27p kitchen item that removes blood stains from bedding

Whether you've accidentally scratched yourself during the night, had a period mishap, or had a nosebleed, almost all of us will have found ourselves with spots of blood on our pillows and bedsheets at least once.

And while you may think blood is one of the most stubborn stains to come out in the wash, cleaning fans claim you can actually banish the spots using just one household item that you probably already have in your kitchen cupboards, the Express reports.

Fans of cleaning queen Mrs Hinch - whose full name is Sophie Hinchliffe - have started their own Facebook groups to share cleaning tips after being inspired by the influencer, and one of their recent discussions centred around the best ways to get blood stains out of pillows.

Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning tips and tricks Facebook page, one woman asked: “Help! My little boy has stuck his finger up my nose causing a bloody nosebleed and it’s gone all over my pillow before I could stop it.

“What’s the quickest way to remove blood please?”

And instead of spending money on expensive stain removers, Mrs Hinch fans advised the mum simply head to her kitchen to find the perfect solution - salt and cold water.

One woman said: “Salt and cold water, my mum swears by it. My nephew had a huge nose bleed and it went all down his shirt. My mum used salt and water and it came right out.”

As another agreed, writing: “Use cold water with some salt. I was sceptical at first, but the stain disappears instantly.”

“Salt and cold water mixture," a third stated, "then in circular motions with a sponge the stains should rub off. Got a tonne of blood off my son’s clothing."

There were dozens of other comments from cleaning fans who also swore by a mixture of salt and cold water to banish bloodstains.

And even if you do need to nip to the shops to buy some salt, a 750g bottle of table salt from Asda will cost you just 27p, while the same product from Morrisons is 29p.

Meanwhile, some other Mrs Hinch fans also advocated for baking soda as an alternative bloodstain remover - which is more expensive at £1.19 from Asda but could also be a product you already have at home.

One person said: “Baking soda works brilliantly on bloodstains.”

As another added: “Baking soda with cold water is excellent on bloodstains.”
