Mrs Hinch fans share homemade solution to banish ants which 'works every time'

Ants are one of the toughest pets to banish from your home. Despite efforts to tackle them year upon year, people often see the bugs return inside their homes.

Although plenty of insecticides are available to purchase, there are homemade methods which can effectively tackle the tiny home invaders without forking out cash.

In fact, two common baking ingredients, which you most likely have at home, reportedly works a treat against warding off ants. According to these cleaning enthusiasts, the secret lies in a supposedly fool proof mixture of icing sugar and bicarbonate of soda, which many others agree works a treat.

As reported by the Mirror, the quick, easy tip came to light on a Facebook group dedicated to cleaning queen Mrs Hinch , when one member queried: “Hi, has anyone got a pet-friendly way to get rid of ants please?”

She was quickly flooded with replies, with one ant-busting method, in particular, cropping up again and again. One person wrote: “Mix a paste of icing sugar and bicarbonate of soda, works every time for me.”

Another suggested: “I mix half baking soda and half icing sugar and sprinkle it over nests or wherever ants are and it seems to work.

“We had ant issues a few years ago. It was a nightmare, several nests popping up and always getting in the house between February/March and late summer.

“Filled in holes around the house so they couldn’t get in and started using this homemade mix outside and they have all disappeared this year! Wish I used baking soda and icing sugar years ago then I would never have been on 'squishing duty’.”

A third person advised leaving the mixture around for about a week to ensure your house is completely ant free.
