Cleaning aces have shared how they get stubborn grease out of air fryers and grills. With energy bills on the rise many are looking for cheaper cooking alternatives.
Air fryers are proving to be a popular option as they have been proven to be more cost-effective for most meals. However it can be tricky to get rid of the "hard" grime build up.
One user of a Mrs Hinch Facebook group was experiencing this problem and seeking out solutions. As reported by the Express, fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have set up these social media pages to share advice and tips.
The user on the group asked: "I picked up an air fryer from Facebook but I need to clean it. I’ve tried Pink Stuff and washing up liquid any other tips? It’s pretty hard on there."
The post was inundated with responses but the most suggested solution was to use bicarbonate of soda and lemon juice.
One user said: "Leave it to soak in bicarbonate of soda, lemon juice and hot water, you might need to do it a couple of times but I swear by this method!"
A second user replied: "Lemon and bicarbonate of soda made into a paste and put on for an hour before washing off," while a third commented: "I use baking soda and a lemon plus hot water. It works every time."
Bicarbonate of soda and lemons can be found in most households but for those who don’t have them, they can be found in most local supermarkets or bought online. Wilko Original Bicarbonate of Soda costs £1.75 while Clean and Natural Bicarbonate Of Soda costs £1.19 from Savers. Just Essentials by Asda lemons costs 50 and Tesco sells lemons for 30p each. Sainsbury's Lemons Unwaxed cost £1.50 for a packet of five.
Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using Fairy Liquid and Elbow Grease spray.
A user said: “Can you not put Fairy Liquid in a bit of water and turn it on? That's how I clean my George Foreman. Once it's heated up normally, it just wipes off,” while another added: “I can't believe someone would sell it in that state. Hot water and Fairy Liquid should work. It will need to soak slightly.”
“Elbow Grease spray and a Brillo pad should hopefully work,” wrote a third. Another suggestion read: “Soak in a dishwasher tablet then while warm use Barkeepers Friend.”
