Mrs Hinch fans share 6p item to clean toilet limescale that 'works every time'

Cleaning the toilet is rarely a favoured chore and it can be even more of a pain when it becomes covered in limescale.

The hard, chalky substance builds up over time and can be found anywhere water is used on a daily basis. Appearing on the back of the toilet bowl, it can lead to unsightly brown staining that can take serious effort to scrub off.

If you're having trouble removing the discolouration from your toilet and want to prevent further stain build-up, Mrs Hinch fans have shared a clever hack to tackle limescale with zero scrubbing, reports the Mirror.

Fans of the cleaning guru, whose full name is Sophie Hinchliffe have taken to social media to share their wisdom after one enthusiast asked for help - and one hack stood out above the rest.

Shared on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, one member asked: "Advice please - how do I get my toilet white again?" She explained that her toilet has built up limescale staining as she doesn't flush the loo when she goes during the night.

She added that while using zero-limescale toilet cleaner has slightly improved the appearance, she wanted to find out if there was a better and easier way to get her loo sparkling.

In the comments, there was a favoured method of removing limescale - a dishwasher tablet. One wrote: "If you have a dishwasher tablet, you can drop one in and it works in an hour or so. Works every time."

Another said a dishwasher tablet removes even stubborn stains, commenting: "Drop a dishwasher tablet in the toilet and leave as long as you can before flushing it removes even thick and stubborn limescale."

Cleaning experts at Kitchn also recommend using this kitchen essential to remove limescale from the toilet.

They said: "When it’s time to tackle the bathroom, start by dropping a dishwasher tablet into the toilet bowl.

"Then, do the sink, floors, and shower, and save the toilet for last. This way, the tablet will have had time to dissolve a bit and should make scrubbing the toilet bowl a breeze. You can also use the tablet to erase rings left behind by hard water."

Morrisons Savers dishwasher tablets can be bought for £2.49 for 40, making them a mere 6 pence each.
