Mrs Hinch fans praise £1.50 product for stopping condensation on windows

With the weather turning colder and radiators being turned on less often, condensation can build up on windows.

While it is quite a normal thing to happen when the temperature drops outside, if it happens regularly, mould can build up around window panes if it's not dealt with.

Many have taken to social media to ask for solutions that don't 'cost a fortune' as heating bills soar for millions round the country. One Facebook page in particular has become a go-to for cleaning and home hacks inspired by Instagram influencer and entrepreneur Sophie Hinchcliffe, better known as Mrs Hinch.

In the Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips, someone desperately asked: "How can I stop condensation without it costing a fortune please" with a prayer hand emoji.

The post gathered hundreds of comments with people sharing their hacks with solutions ranging from dehumidifiers, timing the heating and one even suggested using cat litter.

Another cleaning savvy member replied with a photo of a Stamp Out The Damp dehumidifier from Clean Zone - a plastic tub filled with absorbent pellets that absorbs moisture from the air in your home. While not as powerful as electric bigger dehumidifiers, users say they still work and it's not adding to the electric bill.

The product which is £1.50 from Wilko was praised by the woman and others as an affordable way to tackle to problem as members swore by the dehumidifier. Another fan wrote: "These are really good even if there is only a little bit of dampness and not too expensive".

"Salt in a bowl on windowsill it works, salt was damp next morning and windows dry," another added.

A third advised: "Only open windows if it’s dry outside as you can be letting more damp into your home."

One said: "Just wipe the windows and invest in a good dehumidifier. Run the dehumidifier in the damp room daily with the door closed."

Another added: "When you aren’t using the dehumidifier one of the best things to do is have all the doors in your home open to evenly heat your space and for good ventilation."

And someone else interjected: "Fill some old socks with cat litter and place on windows to absorb moisture."
