A mum has divided opinion after revealing her technique to keep the toilet brush clean on Facebook.
Writing on the Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook group, which has more than 360,000 members, she said: "Seen quite a few opinions on the loo brush... thought I’d share my solution.
"The brush is required to get the skids off my 'comfort height' toilet (just means there’s more height to fall!) I use the brush then clean it and spray with mould & mildew.
"It stays there until it’s dry then goes back in the holder. No moisture to let the germs fester!"
She also included a photo to illustrate the unusual method, with the handle of the newly-cleaned toilet brush trapped in the toilet seat, holding the bristles over the toilet so it can drip-dry before being placed back in its holder.

Some loved the idea, with one replying: "This is genius! I'm going to start doing this."
Another already used the technique, writing: "I thought I was the only strange person that done this. Woohoo I’m not!"
A third said: "This is genius! I'm going to start doing this."
One wasn't sure how well it would work in their house, joking: "I can see myself trying this and then my husband coming in not paying attention and peeing on it."
Others were less convinced about it all, saying: "Slightly weird in my honest opinion. Just get the job done, replace the brush and get the hell outta there!! (I do however use the diluted Zoflora solution idea in the holder."
Some steer clear of toilet brushes altogether, as one recalled: "I haven’t used a loo brush since my now 18 year old son was a toddler and was running round the house using it as a sword."
Another suggested: "I don’t have one. The thought of my children touching it scares me. I’ve always just put bleach down the toilet after going. Does the job and my toilet is lovely and white."
It's not the first time a loo brush cleaning technique has caused a stir online, after one mum's idea was slammed as 'disgusting' and 'gross' by others.
Turning to Mumsnet for advice, she wrote: "Would it be absolutely disgusting to put loo brushes in the dishwasher on their own, on hot setting, followed by a hot wash on empty??!!!"
Understandably, most people weren't impressed.
One said: "I have no idea but I wouldn't do it. Tiny particles of faecal matter flowing around my dishes."
Yummy.
