Mrs Falafel to hand out 'survival boxes' for Glasgow's homeless in George Square

A Glasgow foodie favourite Mrs Falafel will be helping out the city's homeless on Good Friday this year.

Bosses were inspired after seeing shocking images of lines of homeless people queueing at a soup kitchen in George Square during the recent bout of snow.

The new campaign is called Feed Glasgow, and sees a collaboration with other local brands including Tresspass, Harris Tweed & Happi Hands.

Just like the at home boxes that have been popular during lockdown, the survival box contains both food, clothes, and other bits to help those in need. The aim is to give 200 boxes away on April 2, which is Good Friday.

Mrs Falafel said "We're thinking outside the box.

"We thought instead of delivering boxes to people at home this month we decided to feed the homeless.

"Following the recent photos at George Square, our hearts have been touched by those that don’t have much during these unprecedented times. We wanted to get together & help them out. This will be the start of many!

"We will be handing out our boxes on Good Friday 2nd April 12pm on George Square. We are currently limited to 200 boxes but we look to ensure that everyone who turns up on the day is fed."
