Mrs Brown's Boys turmoil as 'second star prepares to sue' after Gary Hollywood legal drama

Mrs Brown's Boys is set for more legal drama as a second star allegedly prepares to sue after being sacked from the popular sitcom.

Damien McKiernan, 54, who played Rory Brown, is taking legal action over claims of unfair dismissal, bullying and discrimination, The Daily Star Sunday reports.

The actor, who left the show in autumn, is the second star in a week to launch a lawsuit against the show's creator and lead actor Brendan O'Carroll who plays Agnes Brown.

Scottish actor Gary Hollywood, 41, who played on-screen boyfriend Dino Doyle before quitting earlier this year, is taking legal action against the show and the BBC for constructive dismissal and workplace discrimination.

An insider from the show, filmed in Glasgow, told the publication: "Damien has decided to take legal action. He doesn’t feel like he has been fairly treated and wants justice...

"Damien is devastated. The decision to drop him from the show came out of the blue.

"He doesn’t feel like it was fair and he wasn’t given a proper explanation.

"He thinks the way he’s been treated is appalling, so wants to take action."

McKiernan reportedly made a formal complaint to BBC bosses after he was apparently cut from the show in October.

The paper reports he decided to take legal action after failing to reach a suitable resolution.

An insider added: "This is a nightmare for Brendan. All the interest is in what’s going on off-screen."

The news comes just days after Hollywood said he was taking legal action against the BBC.

He said he feels he was not "paid equally" and vows that he "won't be treated like that."

Hollywood told The Daily Star: "I feel I wasn’t being paid equally and I wasn’t being given an explanation for decisions.

"When I tried to resolve it, nothing was done. I was just disregarded. But I won’t put up with it any more.

"I won’t be treated like that. This has gone too far. They shouldn't do this to people.

"I am taking legal action. The papers have been lodged for a tribunal and the process has now started."

Hollywood claimed he was not paid as much as others on set for the spin-off show All Round To Mrs Brown's and alleged he was axed from the 2020 Christmas special after asking bosses about the money issue.
