Mrs Brown's Boys star Rory Cowan to record duet with singer Brian Kennedy to raise money for cancer charity

Ex Mrs Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowan will record a duet with singer Brian Kennedy to raise money for a cancer charity.

Brian, who is currently recovering from bowel cancer, will be teaching Rory how to play Niall Horan’s guitar.

The 59-year-old acquired the guitar at Julian Benson’s Winter Wonderland Ball for €4,000 despite not knowing how to play it.

The Dubliner hopes to record a song with Brian to raise money for ARC Cancer Support Centre.

Rory Cowan still gets paid tens of thousands of euros in royalties for Mrs Brown's Boys

He said on Ireland AM: “Myself, Brian, and Alan Hughes came up with this idea that Brian would teach me a song on the guitar.

“I will play the song, he will sing it and then we will put it up on iTunes and all the money raised will go to cancer charity in Dublin, ARC Cancer Support Centre.

“I’ve a month to learn. I wanted a lively song and my favourite band is The Beatles.

"I wanted to do Twist & Shout so I’ve a month to learn it, good enough to play it live on television.”

The guitar was signed by Niall Horan (Ireland AM)

He previously confessed that he wasn’t a fan of the ex-One Direction singer.

He said: “I’m not a fan of Niall’s music and I don’t even play the guitar but I wanted to make sure it reached a good prize for the fund.

"Niall doesn’t make music for people my age, I’m 59, and my music preferences are from 60s 70s and 80s.”
