Mrs Brown’s Boys set to return for two festive specials as BBC reveal Christmas schedule

Mrs Brown’s Boys is set to return for two festive specials, as BBC reveal Christmas schedule

The two specials are Mammy’s Micky and Mammy’s Mechanical Merriment and will feature on RTÉ and BBC.

Revealing what to expect, BBC says of Mammy's Mechanical Merriment: "It's Christmas in Finglas once again. Agnes has been recruited to the church choir, but she's under strict instructions from Father McBride that there's to be no singing and certainly no dancing.

"That's not the only thing off-limits, a Christmas tree shortage means Buster has to get even more creative than usual trying to impress Agnes by any means necessary."

Charlotte Moore, BBC’s Chief Content Officer says: “Christmas 2021 is a time to reunite with friends and family once more, and this year’s line-up of must-see shows will bring everyone together to share the festive season on the BBC.

She added: “There’s a stocking full of special programmes to enthral and enchant featuring your favourite stars and characters, whatever your mood. The BBC is the place to be entertained this Christmas and New Year.”

The New Year episode is all about reconciliation and fresh starts in the Brown household but not everyone seems to have got the message.

Grandad’s brother, Micky, is fresh out of prison when he decides to stop by for a visit. Everyone except Grandad is suspicious when he shows up asking for five thousand euro to invest in a South African gold mine. Winnie, inspired by Cathy’s book, is on a daredevil mission to change the trajectory of her life while Mrs Brown’s boys are forced to have a heart to heart.

BBC has received a mixed response after they finally revealed this year's television schedule for the festive season.

Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who will be joined by a host of guest stars including Aisling Bea, Adjani Salmon and Pauline McLynn for a spectacular New Year’s Day special.
