Mrs Brown’s Boys' Dino actor wants 'completely different' job after exit

Gary Hollywood has said he wants a 'completely different' job after his exit from Mrs Brown's Boys.

The 41-year-old actor has revealed that he hopes to take on a much more serious dramatic role following his departure from the role of Dino Doyle on BBC One comedy Mrs Brown's Boys.

Speaking to The Daily Star, Gary revealed: "With Mrs Brown's Boys, I was involved in a job that enabled me to have a nice life.

"But it also held me back because I've not been able to do other things.

"I played Dino for so long, so I’d love to do a serious role to take me away from that."

This comes after Gary previously said he would be taking legal action against the BBC as he feels he was not "paid equally".

This followed reports that he was suing Agnes Brown actor and show creator Brendan O'Carroll for constructive dismissal and workplace discrimination

Gary has also claimed "there is bullying going on" and that he had previously viewed Brendan as a "father figure" and "mentor".

Gary noted that papers had been lodged for a tribunal to take place.

Gary had claimed that he was axed from the 2020 Christmas special after he spoke up regarding his concerns that he was being paid less than other cast members on spin-off show All Round To Mrs Brown's.

The paper had previously reported that Gary's on-screen partner Damien McKiernan had similar complaints and was written out entirely, while Gary quit after being told he would have a reduced role in the 2020 specials.

"It was even worse news for Damien. He was simply told he is being written out," a source told the paper.

"They are both heartbroken that things have turned out this way."

It was recently announced that Mrs Brown's Boys will stay on TV until at least 2026, after O'Carroll signed a new contract to produce further annual Christmas special episodes for the BBC.

Representatives of Brendan O'Carroll declined to comment on this story when approached by The Mirror.
