Funnyman Brendan O’Carroll has said people need to “lighten up” after being slammed by viewers for an “ignorant” joke.
The Mrs Brown’s Boys star’s comments come after the 66-year-old was slammed by BBC viewers during a joint appearance with Hollywood actor Tyler Perry on Tuesday’s The One Show, sparking accusations of racism.
The pair were on to promote their new Netflix comedy A Madea Homecoming.
Brendan quipped: “He’s very expensive, and so far we haven’t had anyone of his colour in there [Mrs Brown’s Boys],” while gesturing to his own face.
Laughing, Tyler said, “Nobody my colour,” before adding: “Diversity rules!”
