'Mr Biggar, Mr Biggar!' Referee has enough of Dan Biggar's outbursts in middle of match

Wales star Dan Biggar received a stern telling off from referee Alexandre Ruiz for his conduct during Northampton's European Champions Cup match against Leinster.

The frustrated official was unhappy with Biggar's vocal outbursts during the first half of the match as the fired-up Welshman threw everything into his performance.

Shortly before the flare-up, Biggar had kicked Northampton into the lead after 30 minutes - a penalty that came from his own sublime dummy kick and line break as he carried the ball in one hand.

It was the latest example of his wonderful form for Northampton since the Rugby World Cup, where he appears to be playing with a creative freedom rarely seen before.

But he was warned to control his temper amid a tense encounter that saw Saints eventually succumb to a comprehensive 43-16 defeat.

It all started when Leinster winger James Lowe broke the Saints' defensive line and appeared to put Jamison Gibson-Park in for a try before the ball was spilled.

As Ruiz went to the TMO to see if there had been an illegal early tackle on Gibson-Park, Biggar could be seen and heard screaming and shouting loudly.

The BT Sport commentators originally seemed to believe this was directed at the referee, but it seemed more like he was remonstrating with his own players' for their defensive lapse.

However, after one or two previous incidents where Biggar voiced his opinions during the match, Ruiz wanted to make his point to the outside-half, who had earlier shoved him out of the way as he defended his own line.

The annoyed official could bee seen summoning Biggar, shouting "Dan, Dan, Dan!"

But the Welshman continued to ignore him, forcing the ref to try a more formal approach, shouting: "Mr Biggar, Mr Biggar!"

When Biggar finally got the message and approached Ruiz amid jeers from the crowd, he was told: "The refereeing today is our job. Listen to me please."

Biggar replied: "Of course, of course."

He was then told: "You need to control. You need to control or next time it's a penalty against you."

Biggar was eventually replaced in the 62nd minute as the game slipped away from the English Premiership leaders.
