MPs jeer as Hannah Spencer criticises Parliament drinking culture

MPs jeered Hannah Spencer as she criticised MPs for drinking in Parliament.

During Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday (20 May), the Green Party MP for Gorton and Denton, who was elected almost three months ago, said she was “really shocked” to learn some MPs drank alcohol before going through the voting lobbies.

The parliamentary estate has several bars which workers on the parliamentary estate can access, as well as MPs and their guests.

As Ms Spencer asked whether Sir Keir Starmer agreed with her that MPs "shouldn’t be drinking on the job," she was jeered.

Reform UK MP Sarah Pochin, who sat behind Ms Spencer, said: "Sort your policies out."
